New
Designer On City Scene.
By Katerina and Dimitri Angelatos The
Chinese Cultural Center in Vancouver was packed for the 3rd
edition of the Generation Next fashion Show, on Thursday, September 25,
2008. This is one of the most anticipated events of the BC Fashion Week
fall 200. Featuring three finalist of the best up and coming Canadian
Designers. One of those finalists and ultimate winner of the contest was
margarita Angelatos, who featured her spring/Summer 2009 collection, her
first collection of clothing line, Red Jade. Few
years ago the fashion industry of BC launched the Generation Next contest
to nurture and mentor designers, those with strong vision and talent but
in need of some guidance and support. The price package is tailored to
foster the fledgling design company and includes financial and marketing
plans, public relation services, editorials in magazines and more. The top
prize of the package is the sponsored fashion show for the next season for
the winning designer. Margarita
Angelatos has the passion for fashion as long as she can remember. She had
worked as a designer for local companies including Lululemon, Lotus Wear
and Lela Designs, before deciding to bring out her own line of clothing.
Her Red Jade collection is sophisticated and chic while being mindful of
the environment. Red jade is committed to sustainable life style by using
fabrics such as organic cotton, merona wool, silk, linen and hemp. For
