Outlines
Programs for the Administrative Year
WASHINGTON—Supreme
President Gus J. James, II met with His Excellency Alexandros P. Mallias,
the new Greek ambassador to the United States, today.
President James welcomed the ambassador to Washington, outlined his
goals for the administrative year, and offered assistance in the promotion
of Hellenism. “We had a
very productive meeting with Ambassador Mallias,” said James.
“It was a solid exchange of ideas.
We look forward to working with the ambassador and his staff on
programs and events that will strengthen the bonds between the United
States and Greece.” According
the James, the ambassador described relations between the U.S. and Greece
as “excellent” and that the two countries view each other as
“strategic partners” working to promote democracy and freedom. “One of AHEPA's
goals is to bring to the forefront different aspects of the strategic
relationship between the U.S. and Greece,” said James.
“Initially, we aim to do so with a forum on the Balkans planned
for December.” James also
discussed details for his visit to Greece on Oct. 25-29.
The trip is designed to provide the groundwork for the Supreme
President’s annual spring overseas excursion while advancing AHEPA’s
“Voice of Hellenism” campaign. The campaign is intended to provide a greater voice on the
issues that affect Hellenism, and therefore, affect the core of AHEPA’s
mission. According to
James, the “Voice of Hellenism” campaign was well received by
Ambassador Mallias as well as His Excellency Euripides Evriviades,
ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United States, with whom James
met with on Sept. 8. Ambassador
Mallias presented his credentials to President George W. Bush on Monday,
October 3, 2005. |
