Tsipras marks Epiphany Day saying country is entering ‘era of normalcy’

Ο πρωθυπουργός Αλέξης Τσίπρας (Κ), με αφορμή τον εορτασμό των Θεοφανείων, επισκέφθηκε την Κάλυμνο, Σάββατο 6 Ιανουαρίου 2018. Σε ειδική εκδήλωση που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Πνευματικό Κέντρο-Αναγνωστήριο του Δήμου, το δημοτικό συμβούλιο Καλύμνου ανακήρυξε τον πρωθυπουργό, επίτιμο δημότη Καλύμνου. Ο πρωθυπουργός παρακολούθησε την ακολουθία του Μεγάλου Αγιασμού, στον Ιερό Μητροπολιτικό Ναό Σωτήρος Χριστού και μετέβη στον χώρο ρίψεως του Τιμίου Σταυρού για τον καθαγιασμό των υδάτων, κατά την επίσκεψή του στην Κάλυμνο. Greece is entering an “era of normalcy”, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Saturday during a visit to the island of Kalymnos, where he marked Epiphany Day.
“A new, better day is dawning for the country […] We are entering an era of normalcy, with new challenges opening before us, but with more determination to overcome them,” he said at the Culture Center where he was made an honourary citizen.
He said that, unlike the previous governments, his government is achieving an exit from the bailout programs and the crisis.
Tsipras thanked and expressed gratitude towards the Army Forces serving on Kalymnos and surrounding islands for “holding our flag high” adding that “Greece is defending and will defend its sovereign rights, its borders, which are also borders of the EU, with unwavering determination.”
Speaking to local officials earlier in his trip, he pledged to support financially the transport between islands and with the mainland, by subsidizing ferry tickets for islanders and the extra cost of transporting goods to and from the islands.
