What’s Your Passion? The Manitoba Museum Wants To Know! Everyone
has something they’re passionate about. Whether it’s an artistic
pursuit, an all-consuming hobby, or a burning desire to make the world a
better place, we want to know! In
250 words or less, tell us about your passion. What gets you out of
bed each morning? What makes you keep fighting when life gets tough? What
makes life worth living for you? The
contest winner will have their portrait taken by award-winning
Toronto-based photographer Tony Hauser in a private sitting, valued at
over $1200. The best photo from the shoot will be fiber-mounted and
presented to the winner. The
winning entry and photo will also be displayed in the upcoming Power of
Passion exhibit, on The Manitoba Museum website, in Gordon
Sinclair’s Winnipeg Free Press column, and in Features, The
Manitoba Museum’s newsletter. The winner will also receive complimentary
passes to the Museum, Science Gallery, and Planetarium. All
entries will be judged by a panel of passionate people. March 31rst is
the deadline for entries. The
Manitoba Museum will feature The Power of Passion exhibit from
April 7th until May 8th. The Power of Passion is
an exhibit of Hauser’s portraits of over sixty inspirational Canadians,
along with short written passages about each subject’s driving passion,
expressed in their own words. The
exhibit’s passionate subjects include Winnipeggers Hannah Taylor,
founder of the Ladybug Foundation; Lloyd Axworthy; Gail Asper; and Sisters
Lesley Sacouman and Bernadette O’Reilly from Rossbrook House. Please
email entries to hmoncrieff@manitobamuseum.ca
or mail them to The Manitoba Museum, 190 Rupert Avenue, R3B 0N2 before
March 31rst, 2006. Photos are also welcome, but will not be returned.
