LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION BILL
GRAHAM NAMES HON. JANE STEWART AS CHIEF OF STAFF
OTTAWA -
Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Bill Graham, today named the
Honourable Jane Stewart to the important role of Chief of Staff for the
Office of the Leader of the Opposition (OLO) effective immediately.
"Jane Stewart will be a fantastic anchor for the Liberal team in the
OLO", said the Honourable Bill Graham. "In addition to her
tremendous experience as Minister in three portfolios, as a caucus chair,
and as an MP who understands the demands of Parliament, she is familiar
with and has the respect of the Liberal caucus. I am delighted that she
will be joining us once again in Ottawa."
As Chief of Staff, Stewart will be responsible for the day-to-day
operations of the Opposition Leaders' Office, and the principal advisor to
Bill Graham.
"Jane's political experience will be an outstanding asset to the
Liberal team as we hold Stephen Harper and the Conservative government to
account in this minority Parliament", added Bill Graham.
The Honourable Jane Stewart served as Minister of National Revenue, Indian
and Northern Affairs Canada and Human Resources Development Canada. As the
Member of Parliament from Brant from 1993-2004 she held the elected post
of Liberal caucus chair from 1994-1997. Most recently she served
