INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES VISIT BENNINGTON
HEIGHTS
Toronto,
ON, February 7, 2008 –
Eighteen Kuwaiti principals and four English counterparts will visit
Bennington Heights Elementary School to learn best practices and effective
teaching methods in two separate professional learning opportunities.
The
delegates from Kuwait are on a three week visit to the province organized
by OPC (Ontario Principals Council). On Feb. 12, they will spend a full
day at the school, where Principal Michael Walkington will present a
workshop outlining the Ontario’s teacher performance appraisal process.
“This
is a great opportunity to share some of our school leadership, supervision
and teaching methods with other educational systems from around the
world,” Walkington says. “The international community recognizes
Ontario as a leader in educational and learning opportunities. Our
teachers, principals and vice-principals are among the best trained in the
world. This occasion will give us a chance to demonstrate our expertise to
our global neighbours.”
The
English delegation from Oxfordshire will visit the school on Feb. 21 and
focus on the early years and kindergarten initiatives. They will inquire
about literacy, numeracy, and information computer technology, and compare
teaching strategies.
Both
delegations will also take the opportunity to visit some of Ontario’s
sights and explore the City of Toronto.
